Telemedicine is changing the world and ATA is the world of telemedicine. The American Telemedicine Association is the leading international resource and advocate promoting the use of advanced remote medical technologies. ATA and its diverse membership, works to fully integrate telemedicine into transformed healthcare systems to improve quality, equity and affordability of healthcare throughout the world.
Established in 1993 as a non-profit organization and headquartered in Washington, DC, membership in the Association is open to individuals, healthcare institutions, companies and other organizations with an interest in promoting the deployment of telemedicine throughout the world. ATA is governed by a Board of Directors, which is elected by the association´s membership.
The Association Nationale de Télémédicine (ANTEL) organization was founded in 2006 in France. It is a scientific expert association that currently has 300 members. The majority of members are specialist in health care, who use telemedicine or are interested in the new form of organization for the primary care.
The main mission of ANTEL is the performing of clinical research in telemedicine, especially evaluation of the medical services for patient needs, that would benefit from the new forms of health care organization and/or that will be structured on an IT basis. ANTEL wishes to set up a long term close partnership and cooperation with the German Society for Telemedicine to perform Europa-wide clinical research activities in telemedicine. The cooperation between ANTEL and DGTelemed can be achieved by the organization and joint promotion of events on the important topics of telemedicine.
RAT - Russian Association for Telemedicine is the Russian organization that networks key actors and health care professionals, which provide telemedicine technologies in the practice use. The Russian Association for Telemedicine was founded in 2002. It is especially active in the implementation of video-consultations in medicine. The important role plays also the further education of the qualified employees to achieve more benefit for the health care in all regions of the country. Especially for this aim was established the international training course “Modern Aspects of Telemedicine”, that has been working successfully for over several years. The RAT and DGTelemed have decided to establish a long-term and close scientific collaboration as well as a constantly communication in the field of telemedicine. Since 2014 RAT and DGTelemed are collaboration partners.
Bayerische TelemedAllianz (BTA) was founded in July 2012 in Ingolstadt. It is a nationwide contact point for activities in telemedicine, eHealth and health care telematics. The organization is supported by the Bavarian State Ministry of Health and Care. BTA is a neutral competence platform, which can perform initiation, coordination and networking of telemedicine initiatives and projects in the region Bavaria. It sees itself as an international network platform for medical telematics, whose main objective is the delivery of a solutions portfolio, concrete findings and recommendations for practice of the patient care in hospital and ambulance.
ZTG is the competence center for healthcare telematics. ZTG and DGTelemed have agreed to cooperate closely. Both partners are convinced that that telemedicine is an important instrument for the modernisation and future performance of healthcare. Both partners are motivated to bring forward the rational evaluation and application of telemedicine and to put it on a broad basis. An important focus of their cooperation is the internet portal www.telemedizin24.de as platform for an innovative strategy to promote telemedicine.
The demographic trends of the region Main Rhön and the requirements of the patient care in the rural area make it necessary, that the administrative district Bad Kissingen has to deal with the structural development of medicine intensively.
The experts involved from the medical and scientific areas have encouraged the development of a forward-thinking health care supply structure, based on telemedicine. The free state of Bavaria has confirmed the support of this development, with a decision of the cabinet, and will promote the project of a telemedicine center during the following years. For the development of the proposed activities there was established the Center for Telemedicine with headquarter in Bad Kissingen. The main objective is to improve patient care based on telemedicine solutions. Representatives of different medical professions and established facilities of emergency and rehabilitation care as well as medical technology enterprises are already active members of the association. Demographic trends, together with, great progress in the area of medical technologies require telemedicine solutions for improvement of health care at economically sustainable costs. The Center for telemedicine has to provide diversified information about telemedicine, particularly in rural regions and to support ongoing developments. For this purpose regional, national and international partnerships have been built to promote inventions fast-tracked into practice.
The legal mission of the gematik GmbH according to §291a SGB V is the implementation, operation and further development of the telematics infrastructure in health care, the electronic health card (eGK), as well as, related professional applications for data communication between the health care professionals, cost units and assured. Gematik develops the general IT-standards for the introduction of the electronic health card as well as for development and operating of nationwide, interoperable and cross-sector information infrastructures, in communication and security (telematics).
Gematik is the platform for testing and following registration for all products of the telematics infrastructure. The shareholders of gematik are the central organizations of the German health care, so to the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds (GKV-Spitzenverband), National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (Kassenärztliche Bundesvereinigung), National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists (Kassenzahnärztliche Bundesvereinigung), German Medical Association (Bundesärztekammer), German Dentists Association (Bundeszahnärztekammer), German Hospital Association (Deutsche Krankenhausgesellschaft) as well as the German Pharmacy Association (Der Deutsche Apothekenverband).
